It’s official! The Eagles and Patriots are headed to the big game on February 4, 2018. Are you ready for the showdown? Yeah, me neither. Party planning has never been my forte. Lucky for us non-party-planning folks, we have thousands of ideas at our fingertips on the interwebs. Today I’m sharing 15 Game Day Party Ideas that are simple, kid-friendly, and Man approved.
When it comes to food for a party, I always go to some of my favorite food blogs for ideas. I’m looking for easy, fast, savory, and guy approved appetizers. Below are some of my own personal favorites here on Spanglish Spoon, plus a few others that I want to try.
Food Ideas For A Game Day Party.
Layered Taco Salad
Have it with chips, with a fork, or on a tostada. Whichever you decide, I have a feeling you might end up making this for every party.
Mini Waffle Bites with Pulled Pork
These can be addicting. It’s like eating popcorn. You can’t just have one. A handful is more like it. Better yet, I think next time I’ll turn them into little sandwiches! They only take a few minutes to make. I cut a slice of cheddar cheese into four pieces and placed one on top of a mini Eggo waffle, then topped it with pulled pork that I mixed with a little bit of BBQ sauce. I think I baked them in the oven for a few minutes at like 300° Farenheight. Just enough to toast the waffles and melt the cheese.
Grilled Flatbread BBQ Sandwiches
If you’re firing up the grill, then I suggest making these Grilled Steak Flatbread BBQ Sandwiches to add to the menu. They’re simple and quick to make.
Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers with Feta Cheese, Corn, and Cilantro
I haven’t met a single person who didn’t like jalapeno poppers. If you haven’t tried them, you NEED to remedy that the next time you grill.
Deli Style Sandwich Sliders
Warm, cheesy, meaty, buttered, and packed with veggies make these Deli Style Sandwich Sliders by Mama Harris’ Kitchen irresistible.
Corned Beef Bolillo Sandwiches
And speaking of sandwiches, the cilantro cabbage slaw in these Corned Beef Bolillo Sandwiches would go great in just about any sandwich. It only uses five simple ingredients – one of which is a Chipotle adobo sauce that can also be used to make your own chipotle flavored cheese for quesadillas, or to add to those Grilled Steak Flatbread BBQ Sandwiches I mentioned above.
Avocado Tostada Bites
Something I’ve been wanting to try for a while now but haven’t are these Avocado Tostada Bites by Sweet Life Bake. I don’t know about you, but these avocados have me intrigued! I’ve seen them around for a while now and I think it’s high time I make it a point to try them. Have you tried them?
Salsa Verde Without Tomatillos.
What’s a party without some hot sauce, am I right? One of my favorites, of course, is salsa verde so I had to add this Chile Verde Sauce Without Tomatillos. It is a condiment station must-have if you are serving street tacos or nachos.
35-Minute No Wait No Rise Stromboli
Finally, if you just want something that is going to fill you up from the get-go, this 35 Minute No Wait, No Rise Stromboli (AKA how to make rolled pizza) by Carlsbad Cravings will do the trick. A stromboli is perfect for using up any leftover cold cuts and veggies you have in the fridge.
Let’s not forget about the drinks and dessert!
Everyone is going to need something to wash down your delicious food. There’s always plenty of beer, but how about a cocktail? The first place I think to go to when in need of a cocktail is to Sweet Life Bake. Her Cocktails page has everything! If I was serving alcoholic drinks, I’d start there, and probably with this Pineapple Paloma.
Not a drinker? No worries, neither am I. I rarely have a mixed drink. When I do, it has to have some sort of fruit flavor in it and I don’t want to taste the alcohol. One of my favorites is Muy Bueno’s Agua Fresca de Pepino with the addition of a little bit of fresh mint leaves blended into the agua fresca. It lends itself very well to a splash of Rum.
Another favorite of mine is Horchata for the same reason I love the Cucumber Agua Fresca – it cools the palate. After a day of snacking on different appetizers, or spicy salsas, these two drinks will feel refreshing and not leave you feeling bloated.
Game Day Dessert…
A fresh fruit salad and this cake by Evite® is all I need on my dessert table.
